🍂 Autumn on the Mountain: Welcome to the Crefftau Ceridwen Autumn Collection 🧶✨

There’s something about autumn that makes me want to grab a ridiculous amount of yarn, put the kettle on, light a candle and disappear into a pile of crochet.

The mornings get darker. The mountains start turning gold and copper. There’s a definite nip in the air. And suddenly “I probably have enough crochet” becomes a completely ridiculous thing to say.

Because obviously I need another scarf.

And a cowl.

And something cosy for my Kindle.

And possibly something slightly witchy.

It’s autumn. It would be rude not to. 😂

So, welcome to the Crefftau Ceridwen Autumn Collection — a collection of cosy, handmade pieces inspired by the changing seasons, Welsh mountain weather and my ongoing inability to leave yarn alone.

🍁 Made for cold noses and cosy days

The autumn collection is all about those little things that make the colder months better.

Soft textures.

Warm layers.

Rich autumnal colours.

A bit of sparkle.

And, naturally, a touch of mountain witch magic.

You know those days when you leave the house thinking “it’s not THAT cold” and then immediately regret every decision you’ve ever made?

That’s what cowls are for.

I’ve been making cosy neck warmers, snoods, scarves and other little woolly treasures designed to be thrown on when the temperature drops.

And because this is Crefftau Ceridwen, they’re not necessarily going to be your standard beige scarf.

There might be sparkle.

There might be texture.

There might be a little witchy nonsense.

There will definitely be yarn.

🧶 The Sparkle & Spell Snood

One of the newest additions is my Sparkle & Spell Snood Scarf — and this one has actually made the leap from my hook into a full crochet tutorial and written pattern.

It’s designed to be ridiculously simple and wonderfully adaptable.

You can use the yarn you love, experiment with colours, use scraps or make something completely different from mine.

I’ve used Hobbii Universe XL, but you can also try yarns such as Cygnet Boho Spirit, Yarnsmiths Play or another acrylic yarn you love.

And that’s exactly what I love about this design.

It’s not about making everyone else’s scarf.

It’s about making yours.

📚 Cosy crochet + books = obviously

Autumn also means reading season.

Well… technically every season is reading season in my house, but autumn makes it feel particularly justified.

So yes, the Kindle bedrooms are still very much part of the autumn mood.

Because books need bedrooms too.

Especially when you’re taking them out into the cold.

There’s something very satisfying about a cosy handmade cover, a cup of tea, a blanket and a book while the weather does whatever the hell it wants outside.

🍂 Handmade on the mountain

Everything I make begins here in North Wales, usually with me surrounded by yarn and questioning whether I really needed to start another project.

The answer is almost always yes.

Crefftau Ceridwen is my little creative escape from a busy life.

It’s where I get to play with colour, texture and ideas without everything having to be sensible.

Some pieces are carefully planned.

Some appear because I picked up a hook and thought “I wonder what happens if I do this…”

And some are complete accidents that turn out rather lovely.

That’s the magic of making things by hand.

No two pieces are quite the same.

🔮 A little bit of autumn magic

The autumn collection is inspired by everything I love about this time of year:

🍁 golden leaves
🌧️ wild Welsh weather
🏔️ misty mountains
🕯️ candles and cosy evenings
📚 books and blankets
🧶 enormous amounts of yarn
✨ sparkly fibres
🧙♀️ and just a tiny bit of witchcraft

Okay.

Maybe more than a tiny bit.

After all, this is Crefftau Ceridwen.

Named after the Welsh witch of transformation, the whole point has always been about taking ordinary things and turning them into something a little bit magical.

A ball of yarn becomes a scarf.

A scrap becomes something useful.

A quiet evening becomes a finished project.

And a hook, some yarn and a slightly chaotic brain somehow become a small business.

The autumn collection will be appearing throughout the season, with handmade pieces, new designs, crochet patterns and a few surprises along the way.

Some pieces will be one-offs.

Some will be made to order.

And some will probably involve me saying “I’m just going to make one more…” at midnight.
