š Books Need Bedrooms Too⦠And So Do Kindles
Share
Autumn is coming to Crefftau Ceridwen ā and my yarn stash has things to say.
There comes a moment every year when the light changes.
The evenings get that little bit darker. The air develops a crispness that wasnāt there last week. You start eyeing up your favourite oversized jumper and thinking, yes⦠itās nearly time.
And then there are the books.
Because if youāre anything like me, autumn isnāt simply a season.
Itās reading season. šš
The blankets come out. The candles get lit. The kettle becomes permanently operational. Somewhere nearby is a stack of books that you absolutely intend to read ā and probably another stack that you bought because the cover was pretty and thatās perfectly reasonable.
But Iāve been thinkingā¦
Books need bedrooms too.
Not just shelves.
Not just bookcases.
Bedrooms.
A cosy little place for your favourite book to rest when youāre not reading it.
And then I thought about Kindles.
Because our beloved little electronic book friends deserve a cosy home too, donāt they?
So Iāve been plotting.
And crocheting.
And rummaging through my yarn stash.
And my yarn stash, frankly, has become rather vocal.
It wants to be involved.
𧶠Meanwhile⦠the yarn is singing
My stash has been quietly gathering colours that suddenly make perfect sense for autumn.
Mossy greens.
Plum and blackberry.
Heather.
Rust.
Mustard.
Smoky blues.
Deep berry shades.
Colours that look like woodland paths, old books, stormy skies and the inside of a very suspicious little apothecary.
And Iāve got ideas.
Quite a lot of them.
Possibly too many.
Definitely not enough hours.
Which can only mean one thingā¦
š THE AUTUMN MAKES ARE COMING.
From September onwards, Iām going full cosy.
Expect handmade crochet pieces designed for book lovers, cosy-home obsessives, Kindle readers, woodland wanderers, witchy souls and anyone who believes that autumn is a personality trait.
There will be things for your books.
Things for your Kindle.
Things for your neck.
Things for your shoulders.
Things for your reading nook.
And quite possibly things that I havenāt thought of yet because my brain tends to wander off into the woods halfway through a project.
š A cosy little revolution
I donāt want to make things that simply look autumnal.
I want to make things that feel like autumn.
The sort of pieces you reach for when itās raining outside and youāve got three chapters left.
The sort of thing that belongs beside a steaming mug of tea, a pile of unread books and a candle you probably shouldnāt have bought but absolutely needed.
Handmade pieces with texture, colour, personality and a little bit of magic.
Because thatās what Crefftau Ceridwen is becoming.
A little corner of the internet for things born of chaos, magic and mischief.
And books.
Obviously books.
Lots and lots of books.
š® So⦠consider this your warning.
September is when things start appearing.
The yarn stash is awake.
The hooks are ready.
The ideas are multiplying.
And somewhere in my studio, an innocent-looking ball of yarn is about to become something completely unnecessary that I will nevertheless become emotionally attached to.
You donāt want to miss this. šš§¶š
Keep an eye on the shop, because the Autumn Collection is coming.
And if you love books, cosy evenings, handmade treasures and a little touch of witchy woodland magicā¦
I think youāre going to like whatās coming.
Until thenā¦
Make the tea.
Choose the book.
Find the blanket.
And prepare your neck.
Winter is coming. š¤š
